Because SWFCA represents helping the church in community, support by area churches is crucial. Several churches and local businesses are holding fund raisers through the year to help support SWFCA's mission.
Annual Community
Thanksgiving Service
For many years a Community Thanksgiving service has raised money for what is now Southern Wake Faith Community in Action.
2011 Service - New Date!
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 7:00pm
Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church
301 N. Woodrow Street, Fuquay-Varina
Over the years the Community Thanksgiving Service has been held on Thanksgiving Eve. The new date of Tuesday before Thanksgiving was selected for 2011 in order to accommodate more community members who would like to worship, but who may be traveling on Thanksgiving Eve.
This historic service continues to grow and draw more community members of different faith traditions.
Worship is stirring, multi-cultural, and involves town officials and many area church pastors. A multi-church choir sings in praise and worship.
In 2010, the community-wide service was held at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
In 2009, over 300 worshipers from a variety of denominations filled the sanctuary at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church for a joyful celebration.
Choir Fest -
F-V Presbyterian Church, Fuquay-Varina
This was an afternoon spent lifting voices in praise to God. Area church choir members held a special performance of worship and praise music and a special offering taken to support SWFCA. Plans are already in the works for 2012!
Corn Hole Classic -
First UMC, Fuquay-Varina
On a hot, hot summer day, FUMC's Missions Committee
held a Corn Hole Classic! Over
40 participants threw their corn-filled bags toward the targets in a nearly
day-long competition.
This new version of the classic game, horseshoes, is popular with tail-gate, backyard and college parties. The day's festivities helped raise over $800 for SWFCA. The day's winners received a custom made Corn Hole Tournament board.
Consider how your church or business can hold a fund raiser for SWFCA!
